Huh you have no plan for university?

A conversation with any friends, relatives and whosoever whom you didn't meet up for a long time normally starting or ending with this: Which university you applying after polytechnic?

"oh I'm not going to university."

Then they will look at you as if your face is mutating. "Why?" then going on telling you, "you know it is very important to get a degree nowadays especially in Singapore......." - their favourite quote

University is important IF you know what you want to do in the future and you require that particular set of skills to achieve it such as you want to be engineer, chemist, lawyer, doctor, etc.

It is time-wasting if your mindset is to get a degree.

The fact: Having a degree holder is no longer extraordinary because everyone on the street is holding a degree and you won't get any better salary with it.

Instead of learning from books 4 years in University, I am learning through on-the-job training; I get the first hand update of skill and knowledge. Instead of draining your parents' cpf/ cash $8000 - $10,000 a year on University, I am here earning an income, and a growing cpf balance. Instead telling your employer "I have degree certification", I am telling your employer "I have 5 years of working experience, I took enrichment classes to upgrade my skills and knowledge."

Sit down and ask yourself: What do you want to do in the future? Don't study for the sake of studying, study with passion. Back in primary, secondary and jc, we didn't get to choose what we want to study, but now you have so cherish it.

Anyway just a penny of my thought. Till then.
