Seriously, this is a world full of judgement. People judge you. You judge people. But, actually they don't judge. Their perception judged.

Under OB's term, this is known as perception shortcut/error.

Before people know each other, they start to judge. Just like boys love to look at pretty and girls love to look at handsome. Humans love pretty things.

"Nice and new book doesn't mean interesting content. Interesting books do not need a pretty cover page."

A wrong concept. Being a human, you would pick up the nice and new book instead of the ugly and old book. Don't try to correct me. This is known as Halo Effect; judging one based on one characteristic. You perceive the nice and new book as a having an interesting content, and perceive the old and ugly book having a dull content.

But indeed, how can one don't judge?

If people don't judge, there will be no things such as Plastic Surgery, Make Up, and nice clothing. Everyone dressed up to impress someone or yourself. People will perceive you as a better and nicer person when you are well-dressed. This is how a chinese term "斯文败类" comes from. It means you look like a gentleman from your dressing, and people perceive you as a nice person, but ended up your intentions aren't good.

Imagine someone having tattoo, millions of piercing, wear revealing top, sit with legs spread super wide and mouthful of vulgar words, who came into your mind? Ah Beng/Ah Lian or? Halo effect is taking place. Do you know them? And you are judging them. How do you know they are Ah Beng/ Ah Lian. They do behave like one, however they are not. Tattoo and piercing might be an art to them. Spreading their legs wide open and speaking vulgarities are maybe their habit.

Another common error perception is Stereotyping; judging one based on the group he/she belongs to.

Put yourself into these situations. First. You are with a group of bookworms, people perceive you as a bookworm too. Second. You are with a group of gangsters, people perceive to be a gangster as well. You are still you. You never change anything except with the people you are with. In people's eyes, you are different. One is bad, one is good. I am not trying to say Gangsters are bad, I just perceive that Gangsters are bad. See the difference. The power of perception.

I read before a story. This story was about two people's perception in a jewelry shop. Okay. Let's name the main character as June and another character as Jen. June put her bag on the glass panel and start viewing the jewelry. When Jen came in, she was looking at the jewelry around June's bag. June walked toward Jen, and move her bag aside as she thinks her bag is hindering Jen. But Jen was angry. She said, "Do you think i will stole your bag?" June's good intention turns into bad intention under Jen's perception.

This might due to perceiver's past experience, and etc.

Judging is just a process of perceiving.

However, perception have their good point. It saves one from danger. Humans have a strong sense toward danger surrounding. For example. When one saw a group of men full of tattoos and piercing, one would perceive them as gangsters, you sensed a danger surrounding. So you will start to "behave" yourself. You controlled your eyes from rolling and staring. You looked down, and walked faster hoping you stay out of trouble with them. Okay. That is me. HAHAHAHA.

Don't blame one judge. Perception is hard to control.

To be serious, I seldom judge people. I will start judging when there are too many negative stories about someone. But I stereotyped people. I am sorry. We are humans.
